Iron River Construction is proud to feature its latest project – the Waterford Getaways’ delightful vacation cottage in Waconia, MN! Waterford Getaways approached us with a clear vision to renovate their 1930s cabin into a dream vacation home. The dilapidated cabin was outdated and the owners only used the first level.
We offered a comprehensive solution that addressed the homeowners’ problems and provided siding, roofing, kitchen and bathroom remodel services.

A Consultation Process That Prioritized Quality over Speed
Iron River Construction worked alongside the homeowners and their designer to maximize the space and functionality of the home. Their goal was to finish the project by a specific date, but they prioritized quality over speed, thus the project ended about two weeks later.
Innovative solutions included changing the location of the stairs, digging out 8 inches of the foundation to increase basement ceiling height, and breaking down walls. Our team even stripped everything down to the studs to reinvent the space.
This project is unique as it was created for short-term rental. We remodeled the vacation cottage in a way to build on Waconia’s history as a tourism spot for lakes in the west metro area. Decisions were made deliberately to create an enjoyable vacation or weekend getaway for the renters.
One of the unique challenges Iron River Construction faced was the timeline. It suffered a delay of two months due to zoning challenges before the property closed. However, our team was able to make up for some of those delays and complete the project in a timely manner.
