The owners of this welcoming single-story Rambler in Plymouth, MN approached our team at Iron River Construction to build a new deck for their backyard. Rotting, sagging beams and the lack of a railing around the perimeter made this deck a hazard for the child and pets of this young family.

Stabilizing Existing Structure Provides Cost-Saving Solution
When designing their new deck, we found that we could utilize the existing footing and framing to decrease the overall cost of the project. To make everything perfectly level, we had to plane down several joists and add mechanical fasteners to stabilize the deck and bring it up to code. The once sagging deck was beginning to take on a newly improved form.
New Design Provides an Easy Access Deck for All
Once the deck was brought up to code and prepped, we built on wider corner stairs and railing to accommodate easy access for the family and their pets. This addition was also beneficial for their timeline and budget, making these design choices a good fit for their needs.
