Renovations: LP SmartSide Siding Installation
A Hopkins, MN homeowner needed a complete remodel for the exterior of his two-story home. The house was a reddish color that looked like it was from the last century. He also had extensive wood rot and woodpecker damage that ruined the curb appeal and compromised the home’s structural integrity.
The team at Iron River Construction previously worked with his aunt on a home repair project after a tree fell on her house, so he knew we would provide excellent service and high-quality results. He hired us to replace the siding on his home, and we got started!
Bye Bye Woodpeckers and Wood Rot!
We began by walking around the house during a site visit. Next, we took Hover photos and measured the home to create a 3D rendering using the LP 8” lap siding the client chose.
The original siding was Cedar lap on the front and Masonite on the sides and back. The siding was rotting and woodpeckers were causing further damage by pursuing the bugs that permeated the siding due to improper installation.
We started by removing the existing siding and wrapping the entire home in Tyvek to provide a moisture barrier and keep out any unwanted critters. Fewer bugs mean the feisty woodpeckers are less likely to damage the new siding while looking for a snack. We then installed LP SmartSide 8” lap siding in Canyon Brown with white trim.
LP SmartSide is engineered wood, so it has a timeless, classic appearance of wood but with much less upkeep. It is also light, easy to install, impact resistant, and durable.
