Iron River Construction has been partnering with the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity for a while now. The Mississippi Dunes project, located in Cottage Grove MN, is our latest project we’re helping with, and is a three year town-home construction project, in the incomplete Mississippi Dunes housing development west of Highway 61. Habitat purchased eight of the 12 lots using $80,000 in federal HOME grants awarded to Washington County. Habitat plans to build four three-bedroom town-homes annually over a three-year period beginning in 2013 and ending in 2015. The properties are in the 6700 block of 99th Street, north of 100th Street and west of Hadley Avenue.

On this home (pictured right and below), we installed the new siding, however most of the time we work on their roofs, doing roof replacements and installations, because they don’t want volunteers to be up on the roof. Habitat needed a remodeling and construction company to install efficiently and professionally, something that would be hard to train and coordinate with volunteers on such a large project.
As part of our commitment to giving back to the Minneapolis and Twin Cities community, Iron River Construction typically work on about half of their projects every year. Habitat builds about 55 to 60 homes a year in the Twin Cities.
