When looking for a Minneapolis home siding contractor, it’s important to ask the right questions. It’s your house, and you want someone who’s going to take care of it as well as you would!
Here are some questions to ask a potential home siding contractor, as well as the answers we give when customers ask us:
1. How long have you been in business? Iron River Construction has been family owned and operated since 1992. We are licensed, bonded, and insured, and we also have a licensed insurance adjuster on staff. As a member of the Minnesota Better Business Bureau and several building associations, we are committed to deliver excellent service and quality on every job.
2. Are you lead RRP certified? Yes, Iron River Construction is lead RRP (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) certified. Common renovations, painting projects and even general maintenance on homes can create toxic lead dust that can be harmful to adults and children. Iron River Construction is certified by the EPA to work safely with lead paint and dust and to properly dispose of all hazardous materials.
3. What siding products would you recommend? Iron River Construction installs three types of siding, each with its own benefits.
Fiber Cement Siding: (Iron River installs James Hardie fiber cement siding)
- It has a beautiful wood-like appearance.
- It’s very low maintenance. It needs painting every 15-20 years, but no other maintenance is required.
- You’ll save money on your heating and cooling bill—fiber cement siding provides excellent insulation.
- It is fire and flame resistant. There have been instances where the fiber cement siding of a home has saved it from total fire destruction.
Vinyl Siding:
- There’s no need to paint!
- Provides great insulation and heat-saving properties. New vinyl siding means a lower cooling and heating bill.
- The production of vinyl siding requires less energy than other siding types.
- Most vinyl siding today is manufactured with UV stabilizers to protect the siding from fading and other sun damage.
Steel Siding:
- It’s amazingly durable, even withstanding extremes like hail, fire and floods. It won’t chip, flake, rot or rust.
- It’s fairly low-maintenance. We do recommend hosing it down occasionally, but that’s it!
- All our steel siding has been designed to look like natural wood.
- It’s available in a variety of textures, styles and colors.
- One popular steel option is seamless steel siding. It’s manufactured to the exact dimensions of your home, so each piece is precisely the right length, and there are no seams on your house!
4. Can you take a picture of my house and show me options on what it can look like? Yes, we can. We like to help you visualize what your home will look like with the new siding so you’ll be happy with the end result!
5. Do you remove all existing siding? Yes. We offer complete siding tear-off and site clean-up. We also recycle metal siding (the only used siding right now that can be recycled).
